A video camera is used to allow the doctor to observe the patient during the initial consultation. The patient&#8217;s concerns, general health, and associated medical history are all questioned by the doctor. During the consultation, the patient is asked by the doctor to describe the circumstances in which these issues have occurred, as well as the start and duration of the unpleasant sensations. During the session, the psychiatrist may also inquire about the patient&#8217;s early experiences in the family, at school, and in the community, as well as any internal experiences that might have impacted their current state of well-being.<\/p>\n<p>During the initial appointment, the psychiatrist is typically able to prescribe medication. If the therapist determines that the patient requires more psychological testing, they will refer them for one. This will help to confirm the diagnosis and provide not only the best course of treatment but also a specific recommendation for more extensive care (e.g. extra therapy sessions).<\/p>\n<p>It is frequently advised to schedule follow-up appointments with a psychiatrist within a few weeks or a month.
