Psychiatrist consultation
Process of consulting with a psychiatrist
Our clinic’s psychiatrists offer online consultations in addition to in-person consultations with adult patients and children and adolescents. A video camera is used to allow the doctor to observe the patient during the initial consultation. The patient’s concerns, general health, and associated medical history are all questioned by the doctor. During the consultation, the patient is asked by the doctor to describe the circumstances in which these issues have occurred, as well as the start and duration of the unpleasant sensations. During the session, the psychiatrist may also inquire about the patient’s early experiences in the family, at school, and in the community, as well as any internal experiences that might have impacted their current state of well-being.
During the initial appointment, the psychiatrist is typically able to prescribe medication. If the therapist determines that the patient requires more psychological testing, they will refer them for one. This will help to confirm the diagnosis and provide not only the best course of treatment but also a specific recommendation for more extensive care (e.g. extra therapy sessions).
It is frequently advised to schedule follow-up appointments with a psychiatrist within a few weeks or a month. The medicine may then be continued once in between consultations if the patient and the physician determine that the unpleasant sensations are lessening and the treatment is working.
It’s important to remember that if you have seen psychiatrists in the past and received treatment from them, it’s a good idea to be ready to provide the doctor with relevant information during your initial consultation, such as medication information, diagnosis notes, or other relevant notes.
The duration of the first consultation with a psychiatrist at Lotus Medica is 45 to 60 minutes, whilst a follow-up visit takes up to 30 minutes. For this reason, the cost of consultations differs. By contacting the clinic’s administration via email at info@lotusmedica.lt or by phone at +370 696 59955, you can schedule a psychiatric consultation.
